Hi Folks, well the time has finally come!
Afghan Heroes are pleased to announce that we are currently involved in planning the official Afghan Heroes 2011 Wootton Bassett Mother’s Day Ride (name tbc).
Last time the ride raised over £110,000 to help our troops and their loved ones – Following the staggering success of last year we are determined to make this year’s event even better.
Just like last year, a large number of people and organisations are coming together to make this happen, Julia and Gordi (and their team), Whiltshire Police, Wootton Bassett local authority, the Highways Agency, Unity Riders, our coordinators and staff as well as many others. Full details will be released after the planning meeting on the 11th Aug. Once this meeting is concluded we are hoping to have the registration site open by the end of August.
VERY IMPORTANT – The Facebook event page is NOT the registration page, by all means you can register an interest here but you MUST REGISTER via our website (once this page is open) in order to book your place on the ride. As with last year, places will be limited (numbers tbc), so registrations will be on a first come first served basis.
Once again, to confirm, THE REGISTRATION PAGE WILL NOT OPEN UNTIL THE END OF AUGUST!
We will keep you all informed via Facebook/email/twitter and the Afghan Heroes web site.

The winner of a brand new Harley Davidson motorbike will ride off on his prize at this weekend’s Truck Fest (3 July 2010)
Paul Beanie won the iconic motorbike, worth over £6,000, which was the star prize at last weekend’s Thunder Rally event in Chepstow organised by Shepton Mallet based charity Afghan Heroes. He will now collect the motorbike from the Bath & West Showground which is hosting the popular Truck Fest with Denise Harris, founder of the charity presenting the prize in the main arena at 12.45pm.
Denise said:
“I’d like to thank Paul for firstly buying a ticket which entered him in the draw to win the Harley. I’d also like to congratulate him on winning this amazing prize.
“I’d also like to express my gratitude to the organisers of the Truck Fest for letting us present the prize in the main arena. The more people who hear about the charity the more we can help support our troops and the families of the fallen.”
